At The Child Psychology Hub, we understand that children’s brains are shaped by their relationships and life experiences. These early influences affect how children feel, behave, cope and relate to others. For this reason, we often take a systemic or family-based approach, working closely with parents and the wider support system around the child. We find this leads to more meaningful, sustainable change, while always maintaining appropriate confidentiality for the young person.

Clinical Psychology
Parent Support
Parent support and coaching offers a non-judgmental, supportive space for parents and carers to reflect on challenges, better understand their child’s needs and develop practical, evidence-based strategies tailored to their family. We support parents to build confidence and trust in their own parenting, while keeping the child’s wellbeing at the centre.
Individual Therapy
Therapy sessions are 50 minutes and are tailored to each child’s individual needs and therapeutic goals. Sessions may take place online or face-to-face at our Derby clinic, using an integrative approach that draws on evidence-based models such as CBT, solution-focused therapy, systemic family therapy and dyadic developmental psychotherapy.
Assessment
Psychological assessments provide a comprehensive understanding of a young person’s cognitive profile, learning strengths, areas of difficulty, emotional wellbeing and developmental needs. Assessments may include cognitive testing, learning difference assessment and a full clinical psychology assessment to support school planning and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
ADHD Assessment
ADHD assessments (NICE Guidelines) provide an evidence-based evaluation of attention, impulsivity and activity levels, alongside a detailed understanding of how a child learns. Cognitive testing is included as standard to explore learning strengths, processing differences and support needs, ensuring parents gain meaningful insight into their child’s learning profile regardless of whether an ADHD diagnosis is made.
Health and Wellbeing Services
Mineral and heavy metal testing explores patterns of mineral balance and potential heavy metal exposure that may influence wellbeing, including mood, energy levels, stress tolerance and nervous system functioning. Using hair tissue mineral analysis (HTMA - simple hair sample), this assessment provides insight into underlying physiological patterns that can be relevant alongside psychological and developmental factors. Results are interpreted within a wider wellbeing context, with practical, individualised recommendations to support overall health.
